A Brief History of Magna Surgical Center

Magna Surgical Center, located in Chicago’s southwest side, opened its doors in 1987 and has become a leader in outpatient surgical care. It has served the surrounding community and outlying communities under its existing management since its inception. This 7,000 square foot Joint Commission-accredited ambulatory surgery center manages three operating suites, currently performing approximately 3,600 surgeries annually, a significant increase in volume compared to the average of its first 20 years in operations. The case mix performed reflects the diversity of the needs of patients in the surrounding areas and includes ophthalmology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, GI/gastroenterology, pain management, podiatry and general surgery. Magna maintains a professional staff of approximately 60 surgeons, many of which have been active members since its inception. In fact several of the surgeons who cared for patients at the Center on the first day of operation in 1987 are still active at the Center. The Magna Surgical Center family also includes employees and relatives of employees who have been at the Center since the first day it opened its doors in 1987.
